Alter Ego In A Godda Da Diva - Polish Pickup and Little Green Apple Melt - Indie Pickup March 2019 (Album Covers)

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! I have the Alter Ego March PPU and IPU offerings to show you today!

The Polish Pick Up and Indie Pick Up theme for March is 'Album Covers'.

The polish for PPU, In A Godda Da Diva is a silvery grey which pulls a bit mauve with coppery and greenish shimmer. Cynthia was inspired by this album cover (I'm sharing Cynthia's photos of her actual copies of the albums).

I used 2 coats, no topcoat. The formula was good, nothing in particular to report. I like the shiftiness of this one. It is quite complex in colour and unique in my collection.

Cynthia's IPU offering is the Little Green Apple wax melt inspired by a song from this album.

As you can guess, this is an apple scented soy wax melt. It melts well with a nice fresh, fruity green apple scent. The plastic packaging is really practical and I like how you can break up the product into small squares. This may be standard practice but I don't buy a lot of wax melts and usually tartlets when I do...They fit perfectly into a mini silicone mould if you like to use those in your melter like me. This wax has a good throw, the scent is definitely noticeable throughout the room when you melt it without being overpowering. I like how this is a straight up apple scent. It makes a change from the apple cinnamon and things.

In A Godda Da Diva and the Little Green Apple wax melt will be available from March 1st to March  4th. The polish will retail for $8.50. The wax melt will be $5. There is no cap on either product.

OPI Tinker, Thinker, Winker? (Nutcracker and the Four Realms Collection)

Hi everyone! Today I have a pretty silver holo to show you. This is Tinker, Thinker, Winker? from the Holiday 2018 Nutcracker and the Four Realms collection by OPI.

My brother and sis-in-law gifted me a set of minis from this collection. I'm actually loving trying out the minis, I get to try polishes I otherwise wouldn't have bought and this one is really pretty. Sorry for the awkward mini bottle pics but I still prefer to show you guys the actual bottle rather than hold a different one for photos.

I read from some posts online that this was better over a silver base and it did seem a little on the more transparent side by looking at the bottle and brush. So I decided to wear this one over A England Encore Margot for extra opacity and to be able to see the beautiful holo from the bottle.

I used one coat of Tinker, Thinker, Winker? over 2 of Encore Margot. The holo is really pretty, dispersed but strong, moreso in sunlight. It reminds me of the hype over the old school holos like NfuOh etc. It was fun to go back to something like this and it's made me want to wear all my holos again (I'll wait for more sunny weather though to enjoy them...). I finished with a coat of topcoat as always and, thankfully, it didn't dull the holo at all. I'm not sure if OPI meant this as a holo polish on it's own or as a holo topcoat but I'm sure it's quite nice either way. But I'd recommend a silver base if you want opacity and strong holo.

Alter Ego Beating Heart - Fan Group Exclusive February 2019

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! Today I have the Alter Ego February Facebook group exclusive to show you!

Beating Heart is a neon orange/red creme. I used 2 coats, no topcoat. The formula was great and it dries fast. This is a nice change for the season and I think it'll be perfect for summer as well. Especially as a pedi colour! It kind of freaked my camera out so the colour is a bit brighter IRL than what you see here.

Beating Heart is available for the month of February in 2 sizes and for Cynthia's regular prices 8.5ml for $4.75 and 17ml for $9.50. Don't forget to join the Alter Ego Facebook group to be able to purchase.

Simple Glitter Gradient Tips

Hi everyone! I recently fancied something super simple and quick to do on my nails but nothing bright or dark at the same time. I decided to go back to basics and do a glitter gradient over my favourite nude polish, Essie BBF Best Boyfriend.

I hope you're not sick of me sharing this polish, but I share what I really wear with you guys, and I have to admit, it is often this polish!

I started out with 2 coats of BBF and then did a glitter gradient using OPI In True Stefani Fashion (you guessed it, from the 2014 Gwen Stefani collection). This is a clear-based silver glitter polish with microglitter and squares. I just used the brush to do the gradient, I find it quicker and less messy than using a sponge.

I finished off with topcoat as always and actually really enjoyed wearing this. It's been so long since I wore a simple glitter gradient! How about you? Do you still wear them?
