Alter Ego Safety Dance & Salt Scrub - Polish Pickup and Indie Pickup - May 2019 (1980's)

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! I have the Alter Ego May Polish Pickup polish to show you today along with the new Salt Scrub from the brand!

The theme for May PPU and IPU is '1980's'. Safety Dance is inspired by the video of the song Safety Dance as you may have guessed

Safety Dance is a shimmery yellow polish with contrasting orange/pink shimmer. I say it every time but I love a good shimmer and Cynthia does them really well.

I used 2 coats, no topcoat. I love the formula on this one. Just right for my preferences!

The Alter Ego salt scrub can be used on the hands or body. I chose to test it out on my hands. The salt is a nice change from sugar and it is a totally different texture to other scrubs I'm used to using. The salt is grittier but more sparse which balances out nicely. The scrub is quite oily which is nice for deep moisturising. I applied to damp hands after I removed some nail polish, rubbed well and let it sit for a couple of minutes. I then rinsed my hands in warm water and they were lovely and soft afterwards.

I like that this scrub is unscented. It's a nice change when you want something simple and would be good if, like me, you are quite sensitive to scents. The container is practical too, with a flip lid and you squeeze the product out.

Safety Dance will retail for $8.50 and the Salt Scrub will be $7.50. Both will be available for purchase from May 3rd to May 6th along with other polishes and products for the 1980's theme!

Floral on Nude

Hi everyone! Today I have some simple but pretty Spring nail art for you! I have done manicures like this in the past but often on a coloured base.

I was inspired by @coyarose on Instagram to do some over a nude base. She did Forget-me-nots in blue. I chose to do some flowers in my favourite colour loosely inspired by some I have in my garden. Google tells me they're called Grape Hyacinths or Muscari.

I started out my mani with 2 thin coats of Essie BBF Best Boyfriend and then used acrylic paints, a fine detail brush and a small dotting tool to paint the grass then the flowers. I finished with topcoat as always to seal the design. It's been a while since I wore a full mani of florals and I missed it so much! Florals are my favourite!

What do you think of this mani? I love it and it fits in well with my current obsession with nude nails or nail art on a nude base!

Essie BBF Best Boyfriend + Shine Of The Times

Hi everyone! I'm gonna be super predictable and post another mani today using Essie BBF Best Boyfriend. I know, I know, more nude and the same one to boot. So I'll keep the description short and sweet.

I used 2 coats of BBF and then added a coat of Shine of the Times on the top and finished with topcoat. Shine of the Times is for sure one of my favourite toppers ever. I wish I had a back-up bottle so I could wear it way more without worrying about using it all! I love the shiftiness of the flakes and how it looks so different over different colours.

Hope you like it too!
