Happy Halloween - Peekaboo Stamped Pumpkins with Alter Ego Go to Hel, Hope for Heaven

Hi everyone! I just wanted to hop on here to write a super quick post to wish you a lovely Halloween, or just a good day if you don't celebrate! I don't either but I couldn't resist doing a sort of Halloween nail art using this polish by Alter Ego called Go to Hel, Hope for Heaven.

If you saw my swatch post of this one, you know all about it already but I mentioned that I had a nail art idea with it and hoped to have time. Well this is it. Please see this post for all the info about the polish itself.

For this mani I used 2 coats of Go to Hel, Hope for Heaven and then stamped using my Lina 4 Seasons - Autumn 01 plate and Konad black stamping polish. I finished with topcoat.

When my nails are warm, the Alter Ego polish turns almost clear making the stamped pumpkins visible. When my nails are getting cold, the tips turn black and hide some of the stamping and then when they're completely cold, the stamping is hidden almost completely.

This is the most beautiful polish for this kind of peekaboo stamping. What do you think of it?

This polish will be available from November 2nd at 11am EST until November 5th at 11:59pm EST.

Girly Bits - Remember My Name (Polish Pickup August 2018) & Stamped Stars

Hi everyone! Today I have an absolute stunner of a polish to show you!

This is Remember My Name by Girly Bits. This was Pam's polish for the August Polish Pickup inspired by Musicals. This polish was inspired by Fame and is a 'grape-y purple magnetic polish with a pink to violet magnetic sheen, and colour shifting flakes in green to blue to gold, blue to purple to pink, and pink to green'.

The flakes and sheen really add something different and this is easily the most complex magnetic polish I own. I was so drawn to it after seeing the first promo pics and I just had to have it!

I used two coats and the formula was perfection, as I expect from Girly Bits. I used my arc magnet purchased from Girly Bits to create the magnetic effect. If you're not into magnetics, this polish is also gorgeous before using the magnet. I love how the flakes pop in the base colour. It kind of made me think of space or a night sky so I decided to add some star stamping. I used Girly Bits Betrothed for the stamping and Moyou Scandi 10 plate. Betrothed is from Pam's bridal cremes collection and is a beautiful light lilac. It works perfectly for stamping, like all of her other cremes. I definitely don't regret picking this one up either! As always, I finished with a coat of topcoat.

I loved wearing this and only took it off when I really had to change because of wear. I hope you like it as much as I do! Unfortunately as Remember My Name was a Polish Pickup exclusive, it is no longer available to purchase but you may be able to find it in a sales group.

Alter Ego - Go to Hel, Hope for Heaven (Polish Pickup November 2018 - Bad Ass Women)

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! I have the November Polish Pick Up Exclusive from Alter Ego for you today

The Polish Pick Up theme for November is 'Bad Ass Women'. Cynthia from Alter Ego has made a polish inspired by Hel the Norse Goddess of the Underworld.

Go to Hel, Hope for Heaven is a grey to black jelly thermal. It is light grey almost clear when warm and black when cold. The colour changed rapidly on my nails. You can see my hands were warm when I first applied and my ring fingernail the coldest.

I then dipped my nails into cold water to show you the cool colour, as my hands were so warm. The colour changes easily and quickly. I used 3 thin coats, no topcoat.

This colour is fun for autumn, especially for Halloween. It would be awesome with some hidden stamping! I'm hoping to have time to do some for Halloween but I can't promise unfortunately!

This beauty will be available from November 2nd at 11am EST until November 5th at 11:59pm EST along with polishes from other brands with the 'Bad Ass Women' theme!

I'll be posting soon with Cynthia's product for Indie Pickup (IPU) for October with the same theme. Until then, here is the Polish Pickup info as usual! Enjoy!

Nude & White Lace

Hi everyone! Today I have some simple but pretty nail art to share with you. I'm currently trying out a bunch of ideas for a friends wedding next year as I'll be doing her nails. I figured testing out on me was a good way to give her some ideas and get a feel for what she likes. So this was my first test. What says 'wedding' more than lace nails?

I started out this mani with 2 coats of Essie BBF Best Boyfriend (I know I'm so predictable, if I use nude polish it is more than likely this one). It is just so perfect.

I then used Moyou Bridal 07 plate and Girly Bits White Wedding stamping polish to stamp the lace design and topped with topcoat as always.

I like the soft romantic look of these. I think I'll definitely be trying out some more lace options. What do you think of it? What do you think is the best nail art for a bride?

Delush Polish - Divas of Soul (August 2018 Polish Pickup - Musicals)

Hi everyone! Today I have my very first Delush Polish to share with you. This is Divas of Soul for Polish Pickup back in August. I don't often allow myself splurges from Polish Pickup but I couldn't resist this one (and the Girly Bits magnetic!). I love red and I don't have many magnetics. I do love the ones I have so this was a must for me. It looked more exciting than the old 'basic' magnetics which came out years ago.

I recently purchased an arc magnet from Girly Bits Cosmetics as well, with this polish in mind because it looked great on the swatches. So this was my first time using that as well. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Delush Polish Divas of Soul is a red/burgundy magnetic with aurora pigment, holographic flakes and shimmer which pulls gold. It was inspired by Dreamgirls for the Musicals Polish Pickup theme.

I used two coats and the arc magnet for the effect. The formula was nice. I don't have other Delush Polishes to compare with but based on this one, I'd try more from the brand. I finished with topcoat as always.

This one looks just stunning in the sun when the gold shimmer really shines through. I love the fun shift and 'movement' of a magnetic polish. This one has great pay off in that sense and the flakes and shimmer keep it super interesting. I kept looking at my nails while wearing this.

Unfortunately, as this was a PPU polish it is no longer available to purchase unless you find it for sale in a group. I'll leave the info for Delush Polish here anyway so you can check out the brand. She does have other magnetic polishes available right now!

Alter Ego White Lightning - Fan Group Exclusive October 2018

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! Today I have the Alter Ego October Facebook group exclusive to show you!

White Lightning is a soft white crelly with gold microflakes and microglitter and strong blue shimmer. The formula was good and as I'd expect for a light coloured crelly. I used 3 coats for good coverage, especially on my ridgy ring finger nail. No topcoat.

Cynthia has also added a new skin/handcare product to her line up. Pet & People Potion is a balm for cuticles/dry skin. It moisturises and soaks in well without leaving greasiness. I'll be putting some of this into a mini tub for my handbag for sure.

White Lightning is available now in 2 sizes and for Cynthia's regular prices 8.5ml for $4.75 and 17ml for $9.50. Don't forget to join the Alter Ego Facebook group to be able to purchase.

Pet & People Potion is also available now for $4.50.

Alter Ego - Harvest Colors Collection Swatches & Review

Today I have the Harvest Colors Fall collection from Alter Ego to show you! This is essentially a collection packed with the most autumnal colours ever, in a mix of finishes.

I'll be sharing a discount code at the end of the post as well as all the release and pricing information you'll need but let's get on to the swatches!

I Can See Your Halo is a slightly metallic gold holo. This one is pretty unique in my collection. I like how it sort of glows and shifts. I used 3 coats and no topcoat.

Don't Pesto Me is a rich green holo. The holo is more subdued in this one. The colour is very saturated. I used 3 coats, no topcoat.

Orange You Glad It's Fall is a vibrant orange holo. This one is stunning. It is bright, rich and perfect for autumn! I used 3 coats, no topcoat.

Sass Squash is a mustardy yellow holographic crelly. This is another one which is unique in my collection. I used 3 coats for opacity, no topcoat.

Moonless Night is a rich blue holo. I will warn that this one stained my nails slightly after only swatching so you will definitely want to use a basecoat! I used 2 coats.

Tin Roof Rusted is a rusty red/orange holo. Exactly the kind of colour I love for autumn. I used 2 coats, no topcoat.

Pour Me A Glass is a raspberry/burgundy holo. This one pulls a brighter pink in sunlight and more subdued burgundy colour in the shade. I used 3 coats, no topcoat.

The Harvest Colors collection retails in full size (17 ml) for $9.50 each with $1 discount for the set of 7 for $51 and in mini size (8.5 ml) for $4.75 each with 0.75 discount for the set at $28.

This collection is available now and you can get 20% off your order with code The Mani Cafe
