Superficially Colorful Lacquer Witch You Were Here & Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings

Hi everyone and Happy Halloween! I have a super simple last Halloween mani for you today but it's one that I really enjoyed wearing! I didn't have much time but wanted to wear something fitting and this is what I came up with.

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - Witch You Were Here & Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings

I started out with 2 coats of Superficially Colorful Lacquer Witch You Were Here which is a gorgeous, rich purple holo from the 2015 Halloween collection. The formula on this is fantastic and it is pretty much a one-coater depending on your application. You might know by now that purple is my favourite colour and this one is gorgeous.

I then added the classic Cauldron Drippings from Lynnderella as an accent. This mixed glitter just screams Halloween and I love pulling it out each year! I've previously worn this over black and orange but I really love how it pops with the purple base!!

What are you wearing on your nails today? Something halloweeny?

Understated Frankenstein - Superficially Colorful Lacquer Ghouls Night Out & I'm Just A Little Batty

Hi everyone! Today I have a simple and understated halloween mani for you. You might have realised that I don't do loaaads of Halloween nail art. I'm just not that into Halloween nails so I generally stick to just a couple and ones that I don't mind actually wearing as a full mani. I prefer to stick to Halloween colours and designs that aren't too in your face.

Frankenstein - Superficially Colorful Lacquer Ghouls Night Out & I'm Just A Little Batty

To do this understated Frankenstein inspired mani, I started out with 2 coats of Superficially Colorful Lacquer Ghouls Night Out, a green holographic from the last year's Halloween collection. I then used I'm Just A Little Batty, the black holographic from the same collection to create a gradient with the green on all fingers except two, for accent nails.

On the ring fingernails, I used acrylic paint and a fine detail brush to draw 'scarring' across the nail. I finished everything off with topcoat.

I'm quite happy with how this turned out, I liked it as a full mani and enjoyed wearing it and I really love the polishes I used. What do you think of it?

Sugar Skulls

Hi everyone! Today I have a sort of Halloween/Day of the Dead mani for you! When my sister-in-law was visiting, we were talking about Halloween nails and she suggested that I do some sugar skulls! I'm not normally a big fan of them but I do like when they're not too scary looking and have flowers!

Sugar Skull Nail Art

While looking for inspiration online, I came across this tutorial by Wondrously Polished. I liked the colour scheme more than I had in mind so I ended up going with it!

Sugar Skull Nail Art

I started out with Lime Crime Milky Ways and then used a small dotting tool to create the design. The red is Chanel Coquelicot and the rest is acrylic paint. I finished off with a coat of topcoat as always.

I like the fact that this is a more girly option than most Halloween manis. Definitely more my style! What are you wearing for Halloween?

Essie Chillato & Polkadots

Hi everyone! Today I have a simple but fun nail art I wore a little while back and never got around to posting. I'm trying to catch up a bit and I will have some more autumnal manis for you soon I promise!

It has been such a long time since I purchased anything from Essie (except my regular favourite base coat!) and I just couldn't resist this beauty from the Summer 2015 collection that I found on sale after meaning to pick it up for ages!

Essie Chillato & Polkadots

Chillato is a yellow/green pastel and it's definitely unique in my collection. The formula was a bit tricky to work with but nothing I don't half expect with a colour like this. I used 3 coats.

Essie Chillato & Polkadots

I then used a dotting tool and white acrylic paint to add polkadots to all of my nails and finished with a coat of topcoat.

Abstract with Pipe Dream Polish Celebration, Happy Hour and V.I.P. Pass

Hi everyone! Today I have a simple but fun nail art to show you today. This is probably my last neon mani of the year. I actually wore it a little while ago but I'm only getting around to posting it now!

I was inspired by this mani by Melissa Walters (melissarenea on IG) and just had to do my own version of it. I love the simple abstract lines combined with the negative space and dots! So fun!

Pipe Dream Polish Abstract dotticure - Celebration, Happy Hour and V.I.P Pass

To create this look, I started out with my base coat as always then added a vertical stripe of Pipe Dream Polish Celebration, Happy Hour and V.I.P. Pass on each nail leaving a space near the cuticle, being sure to mix up the colours so that the same colour wasn't repeated immediately on the next nail.

I then added dots of A England Camelot, my go-to black, with various dotting tools for a variety of sizes and then finished with topcoat.

This look is really striking and I love it with the neon polishes but I think it would look nice in softer colour combinations as well.

I'm sorry to post a mani with discontinued polishes but do check out the brand because she does other cool collections and colours.

Paint Box Polish - The 12 Collection - Swatches and Review

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! Today I have the Fall collection from Paint Box Polish to show you. The 12 Collection is inspired by the twelfth doctor from Doctor Who. I'll admit I'm not a Whovian so the references don't mean much to be but I can tell you for sure that this collection is amazing even if you are clueless about Doctor Who!

So let's get started! You'll find the maker's description in italics and my notes for each colour right after.
Axe Fight - Inspired by the scene where The Doctor enters a fighting arena on a tank rocking the guitar. He looks at his Medieval opponent (who is wielding a giant battle axe) and says, "Well, you said you wanted an axe fight." It's a black polish with irregular holographic particles and gorgeous red shimmer. Opaque in two coats.

I used 2 coats and topcoat. This was one of the colours that jumped at me in particular and the one I chose to wear as a full mani immediately after swatching! The particles are so pretty and the red shimmer in certain lights makes for a very unique polish. I love a good black polish and I'll definitely be wearing this often. I only wish I had been able to capture the red shimmer more in my photos, you can see it peeking through in certain places and the bottle though!

Hey Missy! - Inspired by The Master, who has now taken the form of the fantastically Victorian and delightfully crazy Missy. She always wears a beautiful plum outfit, so this polish is a matte plum color that is opaque in 2 coats.

I used 3 thin coats because I have a some stubborn ridges on a couple of nails at the moment. Otherwise you can definitely get away with two! The first coat seems patchy but everything evens out nicely with the second! This is a good formula for a matte, not thick like some I have tried.

I also applied a coat of topcoat as well to show you how this one looks shiny! (I used Paint Box Polish Like Lightning). I'm generally a shiny sort of girl but I do like this both ways. It's just my kind of colour!

The Impossible Girl - Clara is The Doctor's companion, and here at Paint Box Polish, we think she really likes to steal the show. So, if anyone deserves a glittery, multichrome polish that demands attention, it's her. She often wears outfits in the red/gold/green spectrum, and her polish follows. Some added holographic particles add some extra flash! Opaque in 2 coats.

A standout favourite from the collection for me. I used 3 thin coats. The formula is great and the shift is amazing. This is literally like autumn in a bottle. It really reminds me of the changing colours of leaves. I had the worst time trying to narrow down my photos for this post. Watch out on my Instagram for more because they're too pretty not to share somewhere!

The Ultimate Warrior - Hell Bent is one of PBP's favorite episodes in the whole of Doctor Who. The Doctor is absolutely the start of this episode and he is dramatic and chilling and awesome! He is solving a mystery in a super cool burgundy velvet coat, and this polish is the same color! to give this one some texture, there are plenty of red/gold glass fleck shimmer. Opaque in 2-3 coats.

I used 3 thin coats, again because of my ridges. You could probably get away with 2 depending on your application. This is another great autumn colour and I'm already planning on wearing it again with a new dress I just got. The flecks are gorgeous!

Who Are You? - River Song. Another attention-loving, look at me character. But we love her. LOVE her. This polish was inspired by the scene in this past year's Christmas special when The Doctor is trying to get River to realize who he is. The lighting is beautiful and is predominately blue and purple with some green thrown in there. So is this polish. There are also some gold and silver shimmer in there. It's a bit thinner to let the shimmer show through, so you'll need 2-3 coats.

I used 3 coats. I never get tired of a good multichrome like this, especially in these colours. Though I absolutely love the shimmer which makes it really original.

Overall I think this is a perfect collection for the season and the variety of colours and finishes means theres probably something for everyone, even with a small, 5 polish collection! I know I will be wearing these again and again. I haven't been this excited about a collection in a good while.

This collection will be released at noon EST on Saturday October 15th. The two multichromes will retail for $11 for the 15ml bottles and $6.50 for the 8ml luxe minis, the other three colours will be $10 for the 15ml bottles and $6 for the 8ml luxe minis. For two weeks, there will be a special pricing for full sets. Full size sets will be $46.50 and luxe mini sets will be $27.90.
