Saori Nakagawa aka Flickanail is one of my favourites! Her designs range from simple to intricate and are so recogniseable on my IG feed!
I recently saw a purple and silver skittlette with a stunning marble type design and art deco feel to it at the same time and knew I wanted to recreate it.
I think that Flickanail works with gel but this is my regular polish version!
The Digit-al Dozen does Nail Heroes - Day 2 - Flickanail - Purple & Silver Skittlette |
I started out by using 2 coats of The Knight Bus from Paint Box Polish for the purple nails. I then used black acrylic paint to freehand the scale design then went over it with China Glaze Icicle and a small dotting tool.
I used two coats of Icicle on my middle fingernail. For my ring finger I started out with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls to give me an off white/grey base for the marble gradient swirl design (can you tell I'm not really sure what to call it?). I then used a fan brush and black and white acrylic paint to create a gradient in a sweeping motion across the nail and finished with topcoat.

Overall I like how this turned out. I'll definitely be trying the sweeping gradient again. It is easily my favourite part of this mani! What do you think of it? I highly suggest you check out Flickanail on Instagram. She is awesome!
