Happy Birthday Béné! (I'm A Nail Art Addict) - Moi aussi je suis une addict!

Hi everyone! Today I have a special post today (along with some other lovely bloggers) to wish a Happy Birthday to my friend Bénédicte a.k.a. I'm A Nail Art Addict (I'm Anaa!).

Bénédicte is an awesome friend and nail artist! I have followed her blog for a long time and love her swatches and nail art!

Being a fellow nail art addict I have decided to recreate one of my favourite manicures Béné has done on her blog! Like her, I am a HUGE Elevation Polish fan and I really loved this manicure she did back in August 2013 featuring Elevation Polish Avalanche.

In her manicure Bénédicte used Agnès b. Swimming blue, Kiko 295 Cerulean Blue and Kiko 340 Light Blue. As I don't own those polishes I used some of other blue cremes to create a similar look.

Blue Gradient & Elevation Polish Avalanche

I chose Zoya Phoebe, Essie Avenue Maintain and Sinful Colors Sugar Rush and used a sponge to gradient over a base coat of the Zoya.

I then topped things off with Elevation Polish Avalanche and a coat of topcoat.

I love this manicure, thanks for the inspiration Bénédicte! Have a very Happy Birthday!

Elevation polishes can be purchased from the Elevation Polish store and Llarowe.
Zoya polishes can be purchased from the Zoya website
Sinful Colors and Essie can be purchased from various retailers.

The Lacquer Legion - After Dark - Bats in a Night Sky

Hi everyone! It's Lacquer Legion time again!

This month's theme is 'After Dark' (#LLAfterDark). This month's theme is very appropriate for Halloween inspired designs so I decided to go along that route.

However I wanted to avoid the typical black and orange combo. Don't get me wrong, I love those but I was really thinking more along the lines of darkness and night-time. I decided to centre my manicure around a dark, night idea featuring something we usually only see after dark, bats!
I also thought it would be fun to do a manicure which would look good 'After Dark' so I decided to incorporate some glow in the dark polish!

The Lacquer Legion - After Dark - Pahlish Over the Rhone (Bespoke Batch), Alter Ego Curses! Foiled Again & Sonnetarium Supernatural

So this is how I did it. I started out with 2 coats of Pahlish Over the Rhone (Bespoke Batch) which reminds me of a dark night sky. I sponged a little bit of Alter Ego Curses! Foiled Again onto the middle of each nail. I then used 2 coats of Sonnetarium Supernatural topcoat (which glows blue in the dark) before stamping some bats from my BM-213 plate with black Konad polish. I finished with a normal topcoat.

Here is (sort of) how it looked in the dark. I say sort of, because I am not an expert at photographing glow in the dark polishes. Believe me, they glowed more and looked so much cooler in real life.

Hi everyone! Today I have a stunning polish to show you! This is Chanel Sweet Star, a limited edition polish for Vogue Fashion Night Out 2014.

This polish was available at the FNO event in Paris on September 16th, afterwards in the Chanel Boutique and it is currently popping up in the US and elsewhere now I hear.

Chanel Sweet Star - Vogue Fashion Night Out 2014

This is a stunning metallic multichrome polish which shifts between silver, grey, green and aubergine depending on the light and angle.

Chanel Sweet Star - Vogue Fashion Night Out 2014

I used 2 coats of Sweet Star and as with all my Chanel polishes, I had no issues with formula or application. Both were absolute perfection.

Chanel Sweet Star - Vogue Fashion Night Out 2014

I love love love this polish and wore it for a week, alone, without getting bored of it at all. I posted a quick snap of it on IG where it looked stunning in the morning light. I'm obsessed with this polish and I already can't wait to wear it again.

Gloss48 showcases different beauty brands and offers exclusive deals and products. For more info, please see the links at the end of this post.

So let's get on to the swatches!

Sold On Gold
This is a beautiful yellow-gold shimmer polish, with a jelly type texture. I used 3 coats of Sold On Gold for opacity. Formula and application were really good. Like all Alter Ego polishes, this one dries to a satin matte finish. It is pretty both with and without topcoat.

Rows Her Boat
This is a beautiful blue-leaning teal which is absolutely packed with golden shimmer and flecks. This polish really just glows! I used 2 coats of Rows Her Boat. The formula was a bit on the thick side and I found it useful to shake my bottle a few times during application and allow the first coat to completely dry before applying the second. The second coat evened everything out nicely. I chose to wear this one with topcoat as it really brings out the shimmer!

Alter Ego - Rows Her Boat - Gloss48 Duo

This duo is exclusive to Gloss48.com and will be launching on Wednesday October 29th at 11am EST. For the first week, the duo will be priced at $14 before going back to the regular price of $17. New Gloss48 members get $10 off their first order of $30 or more.

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - Autumn Collection - Swatches and Review

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! Today I have the gorgeous upcoming Autumn collection from Superficially Colorful Lacquer to show you. The collection is composed of 4 thermal polishes with added matte white glitter in different sizes and a little bit of shimmer. These beauties will be releasing on October 27th along with the Fairies and Sprites collection I posted yesterday.

If you're a regular over here, you'll know that I absolutely LOVE Jin's thermal polishes. They really are the best thermal colour-changing polishes around. They're so reactive and magical!

Superficially Colorful Lacquer Autumn Collection (thermals)

I'll be showing you each shade without topcoat and then with. These dry to a satin matte finish like most thermals. They can be worn both ways. Personally I prefer them with topcoat as I think it really brings out the shimmer and flakes! So let's get started...

Unbe-leaf-able
'A little play on words. A dark black-brown that changes to pink, with red and pink shimmer and white glitter of different sizes. A very strange combination of colors. Unbe-leaf-able.'

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - Unbe-leaf-able - with topcoat

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - Unbe-leaf-able - without topcoat

This is my absolute favourite of the collection. It pulls purple and changes to pink so no surprises whatsoever there. I feel like this is an autumn version of Giggly, my most favourite Superficially Colorful Lacquer thermal ever! So clearly I love it just as much. I used 2 coats.

Buried Treasures
'A dark forest green that turns into medium-light green, with green and blue shimmer and white glitter in different sizes. Inspired by the summer and spring being buried in remote places far from the eyes during the autumn and winter seasons.'

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - Buried Treasures - with topcoat

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - Buried Treasures - without topcoat

This is a stunning vivid green shade with amazing shimmer and glow. While swatching this one I couldn't help but think how awesome this would be for St Patrick's Day too! I'm not sure why but there you go... I used 2 coats.

A Summer's Wave Goodbye
'An orange leaning red when cold, that transforms into a bright yellow when hot. As fall comes nearer we're waving goodbye to the hot summer that's leaving.'

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - A Summer's Wave Goodbye - with topcoat

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - A Summer's Wave Goodbye - without topcoat

I love this shade and how original it is for autumn season because it changes to yellow. I know...some autumn leaves are yellow and all but I'd not have necessarily thought of yellow polish for autumn. But it really makes sense! I can't wait to wear this one with some leafy autumn inspired nail art! It would also be perfect for Halloween because it makes me think of candy corn. The colour change on this one is really strong and the shimmer is amazing, both with and without topcoat. I used 3 coats to avoid any visible nail line when warm (yellow).

All Fall Down
'A little play on words. Brown to orange thermal polish with golden and green shimmer and white glitter in different sizes, inspired by the autumn leaves turning brown slowly and fall down.'

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - All Fall Down - with topcoat

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - All Fall Down - without topcoat

This is the polish from the collection which really screams autumn to me...brown and orange like falling leaves! I feel like it's the perfect polish for the season. Changing leaves...colour changing polish in leafy colours. How perfect is that?! I used 2 coats.

The formula and application on all four of these were fantastic. I had no issues whatsoever and they dried really quickly.

The Autumn collection and the Fairies and Sprites collection will be released on October 27th in Superficially Colorful shop with worldwide shipping!

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - Fairies and Sprites Collection - Swatches and Review

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! Today I have an exciting new collection from Superficially Colorful Lacquer to show you!

This is the Fairies and Sprites collection consisting of four pastel coloured texture polishes with added glitter in different sizes.

So let's get started! I'll be showing you each shade alone without topcoat, then with a coat of topcoat. I like them both ways. These are not the grittiest of textures and still have a softness to them due to the pastel colours. So maybe if you usually aren't a big texture fan, you may still like these.

Nixie
A light blue textured polish with medium and light blue glitter. Inspired by the german mythological water sprite called Nixie.
2 coats of Nixie, first photo without topcoat, second photo with.

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - Nixie - Without topcoat

Eoland
A lavender, soft violet textured polish with several sizes of purple glitter. Inspired by the Celtic/Gaelic mythology, where Eoland means Violet Flower.
3 coats of Eoland, first photo without topcoat, second photo with. 2 coats probably would have been sufficient but I used 3 for photos.

Shaylee
A green textured polish with green glitter, representing the Fairy princess of the fields from the Celtic/Gaelic mythology.
2 coats of Shaylee, first photo without topcoat, second photo with.

Aideen
A pink textured polish with red-pink glitter. Very feminine and even a little bit childish in a way, inspired by a young Irish mythologies fairy called Aideen.
2 coats of Aideen, first photo without topcoat, second photo with.

The formula on these is a little on the thicker side and requires slightly more attentive application than your average creme polish but they are so totally worth it. I think this collection is so original, delicate and really unlike anything we've seen with textured polishes before. I love how they look topcoated as well so it's nice to be able to wear them like that too.

The Fairies and Sprites collection will be released on October 27th over in the Superficially Colorful shop with worldwide shipping!

Pahlish Your Bright Shadow & OPI Feel the Mo-Heat-oes Green Skittlette

Hi everyone! Today I have a fun skittlette to show you!

I recently purchased the gorgeous Your Bright Shadow from Pahlish which was a long-time lemming of mine! I just love the shade of blue and the pop of the glitters. When it arrived, I immediately felt inspired to create a manicure around it.

I selected OPI Feel The Mo-Heat-oes Green to pair with it and got started. I began with two coats of Your Bright Shadow on my middle fingernail and two coats of Feel The Mo-Heat-oes Green on my index and little fingernails. I added Barry M Blueberry Gelly to make a gradient on my little fingernail.

Pahlish Your Bright Shadow & OPI Feel the Mo-Heat-oes Green Skittlette

For the nail art on my ring finger I began with two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White, one of my favourite white cremes and then used watercolours to freehand the flowers. I added a gemstone to the centre of the flower and sealed everything with a coat of topcoat.

I was pleased with how this manicure turned out and I can't wait to wear the Pahlish again already! What do you think of it?

Pahlishes can be purchased from the Pahlish store as well as Llarowe and Overall Beauty.

piCture pOlish Sunset with Foil Flowers

Press sample

Hi everyone! I have a quick post for you today with a mani I did a little while back but didn't get around to posting. I know its hardly an autumn manicure but I hope you'll like it anyway.

I started out by applying two coats of Sunset by piCture pOlish over a white base. This is a super bright neon orange with a great formula and application.  I applied it over a white base to make the colour really pop.

I then used some nail foils with foil glue. I applied the glue in a flower shape at the edge of each nail then added the foil. I used black acrylic paint and a fine detail brush to add the outlines and detail.

I used a coat of piCture pOlish revolution as a topcoat because it doesn't wrinkle nail foils like most topcoats.

This was the worst colour ever to photograph so I hope you'll forgive me for that. I was pleased with how the mani turned out so wanted to show you anyway. What do you think of it?

piCture pOlishes can be purchased from the piCture pOlish site with worldwide shipping or from various stockists. You can see the list here.
