Wedding Nails Recreated

Hi everyone! The manicure I have to show you today is quite special to me. This is what I recently wore for my first wedding anniversary...a recreation of my wedding nails! Because I didn't blog about it the first time, I thought now would be a good time to share with you.

For my wedding last year I wanted to avoid the typical bridal looks...pink, french manicures etc. Purple is my all-time favourite colour so it was an obvious choice for my wedding colour too. I decided to do something less traditional which felt more 'me'.

I wanted something special so I knew my friend Gina could help me out. Gina is the creator behind 'Red Dog Designs', one of my favourite indie brands. I love glitter polishes and Gina's are some of my favourites. Her polishes are always so sparkly and so well thought out and complex.

I was thrilled when she agreed to make me a wedding day custom! I sent her a picture of my shoes as inspiration and trusted her to come up with the perfect polish. She did just that.

My custom is a blend of various shades of purple glitter in different sizes with the signature Red Dog holographic microglitter.

I had a lot of trouble before the wedding trying to decide what base colour to wear underneath my custom but I kept coming back to the same few polishes. I ended up doing a gradient with them!

I started out with a white base. Then I used OPI Funky Dunkey, Planks a Lot and Rumples Wiggin to create my gradient and topped with one coat of my custom and some topcoat.

I still love this manicure a year later and I feel like I will probably continue to wear it for our anniversaries.

What do you think of it? What did/will you wear for your wedding manicure?

OPI Sheer Tints - Watercolour

Hi everyone! I have a mani from the vault to show you today. I can't believe how long ago I did this mani and that I didn't get around to posting it before now!

Back when I got the OPI Sheer Tints collection I decided to play with them and do this manicure to get a feel for them. They are glossy, slightly tinted polishes which could be worn alone (though not my cup of tea) or used over different bases to tint the colour. I basically wanted them for nail art and layering like this though! I know this look has been done and varied a lot but I still enjoyed my take on it.

I used 2 coats of white polish and then added random swipes and spots of each of the 4 Sheer Tints (I'm Never Amberrassed, Be Magentale With Me, Don't Violet Me Down and I Can Teal You Like Me) making sure to overlap them in some places.

The formula on these is a little thick but still easy to work with. I finished everything off with a coat of topcoat. I ended up wearing these for almost a week because they were so pretty! I definitely can see the Sheer Tints being very versatile. What do you think of them?
