Glitter and More Glitter

Hi everyone! Today I have a super sparkly mani from a little while back to show you. This is another which got a little bit stuck in the vault of pictures so that's why my nails look a little longer.

This manicure started out with me wanting to wear Kiko 447 Carmine Red from the Satin Nail Lacquer box set and sort of kept going from there...

Kiko 447 Carmine Red - Red Dog Designs Kick A$$

I began with 2 coats of Carmine Red which is a stunning bright pink creme with silvery microshimmer throughout. The shimmer adds depth and makes this a little bit different to your typical fuchsia creme. Formula and application were great.

I decided to add glitter to my ring and little finger nails and chose Red Dog Design's Kick A$$ because it just matches the Kiko perfectly, being a bright pink holographic glitter. I used 2 thin coats. Application was great and this is so packed full of glitter. I'm looking forward to pairing it with a lot of different shades.

I wore these two together for a day and then decided to add even more glitter in the form of Lumina Lacquer Mickey's Moonlit Masquerade. Tatiana at Lumina Lacquer makes fabulous chunky glitter polishes and this one is fab. It has a mix of blue, pink, purple and silver glitters in different shapes. There are hexes, circles, crescent moons and Mickey shapes! I used one coat and dabbed some of the larger pieces to distribute them quite evenly over my nails. This would look great over a wide range of colours.

I liked how this manicure turned out and I love the combination of the fine and chunky glitter in the same manicure!

My Little Pony - Mondial Spa & Beauté - Paris 2014

Hi everyone! Today I have a bit of freehand nail art for you. This is the manicure I wore to the Mondial Spa & Beauté in Paris (beauty, nail and makeup show) at the weekend. I knew I wanted to wear something fun on my nails and My Little Pony had been in my head for a while as a manicure idea.

I loved My Little Pony when I was little and My Little Pony The Movie in particular which is centred around Lickety Split and Spike the Dragon. My choice of which pony to paint in my design was easy.

I started out with 2 coats of Sinful Colors Bright Lucite which is a gorgeous pale blue creme. I think this actually has be be my perfect pale blue creme. The formula and application were lovely and I love the Sinful Color brushes. It dries really insanely shiny even before topcoat. I'm still wearing this manicure and honestly I have no wear whatsoever! Go Sinful Colors!

My Little Pony - Lickety Split & Rainbows - over Sinful Colors Bright Lucite

I then used some of the Sinful Colours Sugar Rush collection and a fine detail brush to freehand a rainbow running across most of my nails, except one.

The colours I used are Cotton Candy, Orange Cream, Unicorn, Sweet Nothing and Sweet Tooth. The pale green is OPI Gargantuan Green Grape.

I finished off the sides of the rainbow with a an Art Club liner (Holographic Glitter #25) to add some sparkle.

On my ring finger nail I used acrylic paints and a fine detail brush to freehand Lickety Split. I topped everything with topcoat as usual.

I really loved how this manicure turned out and loved wearing it for the Mondial Spa & Beauté where it got a lot of attention. Here is my fangirl moment from the nail show...I got to meet Nita Garcia and have my photo taken with her. She loved my My Little Pony nails and put them under the camera and onto the screen for everyone to see! (un énorme merci à Nita si jamais elle passe par là!) She was really cool to meet and I can't wait for next year's show already!

Catrice & Elevation Polish Skittlette

Hi everyone! Today I have a simple skittlette for you. I actually wore this a while ago and it sort of got stuck in the vault of photos! I'm not really sure why because I really love it!

I recently got some Catrice polishes (which I snapped up because they are being discontinued) and decided to wear some of them together. Petrolpolitan is a lovely green packed with blue shimmer/flakes! I used 2 coats of Petrolpolitan on my index and middle fingers. The formula was lovely and easy to work with. I honestly have no complaints whatsoever when it comes to Catrice polishes. All the ones I have tried have been great, especially considering the amazing price!

Green/Blue Skittlette with Elevation Polish, Catrice & Julie G

I then applied 2 coats of George Blueney, also Catrice, to my ring finger. How cool is that name? Formula on this one was also good.

I topped some of my nails with Elevation Polish Lake Achit which is a clear based glitter topper full of various sizes and shapes of glitter in various shades of blue/teal. I love this so much, especially the tiny stars! I think it will look great over a variety of colours and can't wait to try it out some more! Formula and application were really good. The glitters came out easily with no fishing and spread out nicely on the nail.

Green/Blue Skittlette with Elevation Polish, Catrice & Julie G

I finished things off with Julie G Blueberry Fizz from the first Frosted Gumdrop collection on my little finger to add some texture and sparkle.

Green/Blue Skittlette with Elevation Polish, Catrice & Julie G

I loved this mix of polishes and I think Skittlettes are a great way to try out a few untrieds or new polishes all at once! What do you think of this mani?

Midnight Snowball Fight: Chaos & Crocodiles and Elevation Polish Collaboration Duo - Twin Post with Adventures In Acetone

Hi everyone! Today I have a special post for you. My friend Jacki from the blog Adventures In Acetone and I decided to do a sort of twin post on an amazing duo of polishes we both got recently.

This is Midnight Snowball Fight which was a limited edition duo created by two lovely indie brands, Elevation Polish and Chaos & Crocodiles.  I know, I'm sorry to show something which is no longer available but hope you can enjoy the polishes and see what sort of lovely things these two brands create.

Midnight Snowball Fight: Chaos & Crocodiles and Elevation Polish Collaboration Duo

The duo is composed of a great creme polish and a glitter topper in a clear base. The Elevation half of the duo, Evening In The Woods, is a blue/teal creme packed with shimmer/micro-flakes in copper, gold, bronze, green and a tiny touch of pink! It is stunning and so complex. I used 2 coats of Evening In The Woods. Formula was great as usual with Lulu's polishes and this was nearly even a one-coater!

Midnight Snowball Fight: Evening In The Woods & Copper Creek Cabin

The Chaos & Crocodiles half of the duo, Copper Creek Cabin, is a clear based topper full of copper glitter in various shapes and sizes, with white glitter and white hearts as well as a ton of iridescent glitter and shimmer. I chose to use one coat of Copper Creek Cabin on two of my nails as accents for a fun mix and to be able to enjoy Evening In The Woods alone on some of my nails without covering it up too much. The formula on Copper Creek Cabin was great. I didn't really have to fish for any glitter and found that it spread out quite nicely over the nail without too much effort.

Midnight Snowball Fight: Evening In The Woods & Copper Creek Cabin

I decided to add a tiny bit of nail art to my manicure in the form of some dots on the plain nails. I used 4 different sized dotting tools to create dots along one side of my nail, decreasing in size from the cuticle to the tip in Essie Penny Talk to match the copper glitter in Copper Creek Cabin. Penny Talk is a great metallic to have in your collection as it makes a pleasant change from the usual gold and silver metallics. It was so perfect for what I wanted to do on this mani.

I loved the way this mani turned out. What do you think of it? Be sure to head over to see Jacki's post using this duo too, it's really stunning! Be sure to check out her blog while you're there if you don't already know it. She has great swatches and nail art and is always coming up with somthing fun.

Mardi Gras - Red Dog Designs ♪♫♪ (Here Comes)3 the Big Parade ♪♫♪

Hi everyone! Tonight I have a quick post for you to share what I've been wearing on my nails today for Mardi Gras.

I knew I wanted to wear Here Comes The Big Parade from Red Dog Designs. This stunning glitter topper was released last year and is perfect for Mardi Gras but I would totally wear it anytime. Also I love how the name on the bottle is ♪♫♪ (Here Comes)3 the Big Parade ♪♫♪ with the little notes! So cute. There are new Limited Edition Mardi Gras polishes from Red Dog Designs this year. Check them out here

Mardi Gras -Red Dog Designs ♪♫♪ (Here Comes)3 the Big Parade ♪♫♪ over OPI Funky Dunkey

I was inspired by this manicure from my friend Jen over at My Nail Polish Obsession and decided to also use OPI Funky Dunky as my base colour. It's just one of the most perfect purple polishes in the world and looks great with the Red Dog.

Mardi Gras -Red Dog Designs ♪♫♪ (Here Comes)3 the Big Parade ♪♫♪ over OPI Funky Dunkey

I used 2 coats of Funky Dunkey (the formula is amazing, creamy and self-leveling) then added one coat of Here Comes The Big Parade on all of my nails except my ring fingers. This is packed with green, gold and purple glitters in different sizes and the signature RDD micro-glitter. I love the tiny circles! The formula and application were really good, I didn't have to fish for glitter at all. I finished with a coat of topcoat.

Red Dog Designs ♪♫♪ (Here Comes)3 the Big Parade ♪♫♪

For the accent nail, I painted a Masquerade/Mardi Gras mask using OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby from the Gwen Stefani collection which is a shimmering satin finish gold. I used topcoat so the satin effect disappeared in this manicure but it looks great either way. I used Zoya Ivanka, Elevation Polish Mount Cangyan and black acrylic paint for the other details on the mask. I finished off the nail with some dots of Love.Angel.Music.Baby to form a bead necklace.

Elevation Polish Haleakala (aka Perfection!)

Hi everyone! Today I have a simple swatch post for you. I wore this as a full manicure for several days so it wasn't really 'only a swatch'. I mean how could I not? This polish is pure perfection.

Elevation Polish Haleakala is from January's Heights of Hawaii collection and I was so looking foward to this one as soon as I saw a photo. This is just so me.

Elevation Polish Haleakala

Lulu describes Haleakala as a 'Wine/Purple/Red Holographic with very light gold shimmer'.

This polish is just holographic amazingness. The linear holographic is really noticeable in all lighting and it never looks dull like some holographics can in the shade. The colour is so rich and stunning.

Elevation Polish Haleakala

I used 2 coats for my mani followed by one coat of topcoat. As usual with Elevations, the formula was amazing and I had no issues whatsoever. Like seriously, how does Lulu do that?!

Elevation polishes can be purchased from the Elevation Polish store and Llarowe.
