Superficially Colorful Lacquer Exalted & Red Dog Designs Young At Heart

Hi everyone! Today I have a mani which would be perfect for Valentine's day which is coming up soon.

Personally, I don't celebrate it with my husband but I still want to do cute manicures for it! I love pink and girly nails and this is another great excuse. Also I hope it can inspire you if you are looking for ideas!

First I'm going to start out by talking to you about my base colour then move on to the rest of the design. This is Superficially Colorful Lacquer Exalted. Like the other SCLs I have shown you so far, this is a thermal, colour-changing polish. You can see my other SCL manicures here, here and here

Superficially Colorful Lacquer Exalted

This one changes from a light pearly pink to a vibrant shimmery pink. I think my favourite thing about Superficially Colorful Lacquers (apart from the amazing colour changes) is the shimmer and texture. Even if these didn't change colour, they would still be gorgeous.

I love how this one looks on my long nails. I used 2 coats for full opacity and had no issues with the formula or application as such. The only thing I would say is to be careful when painting to apply quite evenly. When I applied, I was seeing the vibrant pink (the cold colour) and then once the polish warmed up on my nails and turned light pink, I saw that my application wasn't as perfect as I had first thought.

I decided to turn this manicure into a Valentine's manicure by adding some freehand hearts on my index finger, Red Dog Designs Young At Heart on 2 nails and an accent with Essie Blanc and Young At Heart.

For the hearts, I used acrylic paints and a small dotting tool.

Red Dog Designs Young At Heart is possibly one of my favourite Red Dog glitters of all time. The mix of glitters is stunning, original and unexpected. There are various shapes and sizes of pink, lime, teal and white glitters with pink hearts and the trademark Red Dog super fine micro glitter. The formula is great and required no fishing for glitter. I used one coat!
