I could not wait to try these out and I had an exact manicure in mind. When I first saw the promo shots for the collection Gwens nails just jumped out at me. I loved the simple pink and black colour blocking. It is bold and eye-catching. I knew I had to recreate it.

I started out my mani with 2 coats of Hey Baby which is a bright pink creme. The formula and application were really good and this dries so shiny! I did use a coat of topcoat anyway but even before, it was really glossy. This is not the most original pink I don't suppose but it really is a good one. If you need a great pink creme for your collection, thist could be it! Here is a swatch of it alone before I added nail art!

I then used tape to recreate the geometric shapes Gwen is wearing on the promo shots. I blocked off a square of pink, leaving an 'L' shaped space to paint black at the base of the nail and up one side. The ring finger is a little different and is just half pink and half black. After placing my tape, I used 4 In The Morning over the exposed areas and removed the tape.
4 In The Morning is a black satin finish polish. I really love this finish and how unique it is. The formula was lovely and allowed me to do one smooth coat before removing the tape. For a full mani, I would probably use 2 thinner coats. There is some silver shimmer which is not really noticeable on the nail without topcoat but I think with topcoat it would show more, especially in direct lighting. The satin finish is not quite matte and has a lovely sheen to it. I chose not to add topcoat to my mani as I love the contrast between the super glossy bright pink and the edgy, satin black.

All in all I find this mani pretty sexy and I plan on wearing it for a good few days! What do you think of it? Did you pick up any of this collection?
This is so cool, i love it, the black and pink go so well together, a very cool design.
ReplyDeleteGreat color block nails!
ReplyDeleteActually she used Hey Baby and I sing in Color, the dark burgundy, but like your look too.
ReplyDeleteYes but as it looks almost black anyway I preferred to use 4 In The Morning to have the texture aspect too. Thanks.
DeleteI agree with the matte finish the contrast is more noticeable than the burgundy, your right, it does almost look black, that's why I didn't get that one!!!!
DeleteAMAZING! I want to copy you!
