Girly Bits Silver and Gold Chrome Effect Powders

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! I'm back with some more of the awesome special effects powders from Girly Bits. Today I'm sharing the Silver and Gold chrome finish powders.

You've probably all seen the chrome nails which have been posted literally everywhere online by now. The effect is really cool and a lot shinier than chrome polishes.

I used 2 coats of black gel polish and applied the chrome powders by buffing with my finger. I finished with a coat of Girly Bits Seal The Deal (no wipe UV/LED Gel Soak-off Topcoat).

First up, silver. This is my favourite of the two and I think the more 'classic' chrome look. I love how you can also use the silver over different colours to get a tinted chrome finish. You can see my pink chrome nails here

Next up is the gold powder. I find the finish ever so slightly less shiny than the silver but still really awesome. I think I'm just more of a silver fan than gold! This was a fun mani to wear though!

The powders are really easy to use and I really love the finish. I got lots of compliments when wearing these.

What do you think of the chrome look?

Girly Bits Cosmetics Duochrome Effect Powders

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone!  Today I have a super fun post for you with the new Duo Chrome Effect Powders from Girly Bits. These new powders are similar to the chrome powders we've been seeing for a while but they're multichome!

Each powder comes in a small pot and appears to be white with an iridescent coloured shimmer peeking through. They come to life and reveal all their colour when applied to the nail. They have all the fun and colour shift of a duo chrome polish but with the shiny finish of chrome powder.

Girly Bits Duochrome Powders

For my swatches, I started out with 2 coats of black gel polish. I then applied a coat of Girly Bits Seal The Deal, a no-wipe UV/LED gel topcoat. I then applied the powder by buffing it in with my finger. I topped with another coat of Seal The Deal

Majestic - appears as a pink iridescent in the pot and over black shows as a gorgeous rich purple/pink chrome. Definitely one of my favourites.

Gaze - My favourite of the bunch for sure. Shifts from teal to purple! Reminds me of some of my favourite multichrome polishes but in shiny chrome format!

Lust - Rich vibrant blue. Super classy way to wear chrome in my opinion!

Zephyr - Another favourite. Again, this one reminds me of some multichrome polishes I have but in a shiny chrome version. Shifts red, bronze, slightly orange. The shift in this one is beautiful.

Resolution - Shifts through greens to gold. Reminds me of cat's eyes. I'm not the hugest green fan but I love this.

Girly Bits Fine UltraChrome Holographic Powder

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! Today I have a really exciting product to share with you. If you like really holographic nails, you absolutely NEED this powder from Girly Bits!

This is the new Fine UltraChrome Holographic Powder which is launching on May 15th and it gives you the most holographic finish ever.

For this mani I used 2 coats of black gel polish then applied the holographic powder, buffing it on with my fingertip. I finished with a coat of Girly Bits Seal the Deal UV/LED Gel Soak Off topcoat. I am loving this gel topcoat. It is definitely the best I've tried and works amazingly with the special effect powders. It doesn't dull their effects at all!

I also tried out layering a jelly polish over the holo powder which I totally love! I used Chanel Sunrise Trip but I can imagine this would be stunning with any colour! The holo effect is so strong that it shows through well and makes a super vibrant colourful holo!

Mermaid Nails

Hi everyone! Today I have some mermaid nails to show you. I'd been meaning to redo these on me since I did them on my sister-in-law ages ago (hers on IG here) and just didn't get around to it until now. To be honest I kind of find vinyls a bit of a faff. I do like how these look though so I guess I need to make myself use them a bit more often!

Essie & Pipe Dream Polish Mermaid Nails

Anyway, I started out with 2 coats of Essie Beyond Cozy. This is one of my favourite polishes and whenever I need some sparkle, I pull it out. I like that its not a gritty glitter but really sparkles in the sun. It's perfect for under nail art because of the smooth texture.

I then applied mermaid vinyls from Neverland Lacquers and sponged a gradient of Pipe Dream Polish All In (A Night In Vegas Cremes collection) and Celebration (Street Carnival Collection) over the vinyl. As always I finished with topcoat.

I really love how the teal and blue pop over the sparkly base. I think mermaid vinyls are the only ones which really catch my attention though! What do you think? Are you a nail vinyl fan?

I'm sorry to post a mani with discontinued Pipe Dream Polish shades but do check out the brand because she does other cool collections and colours.

Zoya Tara & NfuOh 047

Hi everyone! Today I have a simple but gorgeous mani to share with you! I've recently re-discovered my love for flakies. Not that I ever didn't like them but I had sort of forgotten about all the flakies in my helmers...

I recently got hold of Zoya Tara after lusting after it for a while. As soon as I received it, I knew it was love. I couldn't wait to get it on my nails and its already been used multiple times which, let's face it, is rare when you own a huge amount of nail polishes. But this polish is perfection, the perfect mix of red and purple which makes even short nubs feel fantastic. To top it off, the formula is fantastic. I used 2 coats of Tara and wore it alone for a couple of days.

I then decided to add some flakies to pop against the dark base. I'm the proud owner of the whole flakie collection by NfuOh which, in my opinion, are some of the best flakies out there. I chose 047 to complement Tara. I used one coat then topcoat.

Max Factor Fantasy Fire

Hi everyone! With the recent new excitement in the nail community around unicorn pee polishes, I felt like pulling out Max Factor Fantasy Fire to wear. I loved this when I got it and everyone was going crazy for it and still love it as much now.

I started out my mani with 2 coats of Color Club Nail-robi (anyone else cringe a bit at that name?) from the 2014 Safari Garden collection. This is a purple leaning blue creme with a really nice formula. It's almost a one-coater but I used 2 to be sure of an even finish. I then used 2 thin coats of Fantasy Fire. I probably didn't need two coats as it was pretty with one but I wanted even more of that gorgeous shifty shimmer and didn't regret it! I finished with topcoat as usual.

I ended up wearing this mani for ages and still didn't want to take it off. It just goes to show that sometimes a simple plain polish does the job as well. Especially when the polish is as pretty as Fantasy Fire. I'll probably never own Clarins 230 but this is good enough for me!

Green & Gold Girly Bits - Bamboozled & Pirate Booty

Hi everyone! Today I have another late St Patrick's Day mani for you. I know I know...I'm playing catch up! This one is a lot simpler and more discreet than the last one. I wanted a quick mani but in green and gold so I pulled out a couple of glitters from Girly Bits for a simple but sparkly look.

Girly Bits Bamboozled & Pirate Booty

I used 2 coats of Bamboozled on all nails except my ring fingernails. Bamboozled is a gorgeous green holo glitter. I'm not really a green person but I do like this one a lot. I then used Pirate Booty for a gold accent nail. Pirate Booty was a box exclusive for the June 2015 A Box, Indied! It's gold glitter bomb basically. I applied one coat normally then sponged on another for maximum glitter! Pirate Booty becomes leprechaun gold! As always, I finished with a coat of topcoat.

Girly Bits Bamboozled & Pirate Booty

I like this pairing and how it's fun for St Patrick's Day without being too obvious! What do you think of it?

I'm sorry to be posting polishes which are no longer available for purchase but I hope you'll forgive me and check out Pam's current available colours. She always has a huge variety of colours and awesome finishes like these!
