Maison235 Moby Doek Tautira Art

Hi everyone! Long time, no posting I know. But I'm back today with some fun nail art to share with you!

Over the summer, I got a new babywearing woven wrap by french brand Maison235. I love love love this fun pattern that reminds me of holidays and the seaside. This version, called Tautira, in black and white is particularly beautiful. I knew that I wanted to do a nail art inspired by it for sure. I've already done nail art inspired by a woven wrap (check that out here if you missed it).

So here it is, I started out with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow, a white creme. I then used a fine detail brush to freehand the elements of the pattern with acrylic paint. I finished with topcoat as always. My favourite part of the nail art is the boat. I wish I'd done it on a nail other than my thumb.

Of course, I took some photos while wearing the wrap with my baby so you can see this stunning wrap in action.

I hope you like this nail art as much as I do, even if you're not a woven wrap geek like me!

Alter Ego Roasted Eggplant - Holy Shift Group Custom (May 2019)

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! Today I have a group exclusive from Alter Ego to show you! Roasted Eggplant is the Holy Shift group custom for May.

Roasted Eggplant is an eggplant coloured thermal polish. When warm, it pulls more red/mauve, and when cold more deep purple with a strong green/blue shimmer throughout.

This is how it looks when my nail beds are warmer and the tips cooler.

I used 2 coats plus a coat of topcoat. Alone, this one dries down quite matte so I preferred to show you with topcoat. The formula is a tad on the thicker side, as with a lot of thermals, but nothing unmanageable! I love the shimmer!

This is how it looks cooler after a splash of cool water because my hands were so warm

And finally an even cooler gradient look when my hands cooled down outside.

I also snapped a pic of it in artificial lighting when cool so you can really get an idea of the shimmer and cold shade.

Roasted Eggplant will be available for the month of May in 2 sizes and for Cynthia's regular prices 8.5ml for $5.00 and 17ml for $10.00. Don't forget to join thHoly Shift group to be able to purchase!

Alter Ego Safety Dance & Salt Scrub - Polish Pickup and Indie Pickup - May 2019 (1980's)

Press Sample/Review

Hi everyone! I have the Alter Ego May Polish Pickup polish to show you today along with the new Salt Scrub from the brand!

The theme for May PPU and IPU is '1980's'. Safety Dance is inspired by the video of the song Safety Dance as you may have guessed

Safety Dance is a shimmery yellow polish with contrasting orange/pink shimmer. I say it every time but I love a good shimmer and Cynthia does them really well.

I used 2 coats, no topcoat. I love the formula on this one. Just right for my preferences!

The Alter Ego salt scrub can be used on the hands or body. I chose to test it out on my hands. The salt is a nice change from sugar and it is a totally different texture to other scrubs I'm used to using. The salt is grittier but more sparse which balances out nicely. The scrub is quite oily which is nice for deep moisturising. I applied to damp hands after I removed some nail polish, rubbed well and let it sit for a couple of minutes. I then rinsed my hands in warm water and they were lovely and soft afterwards.

I like that this scrub is unscented. It's a nice change when you want something simple and would be good if, like me, you are quite sensitive to scents. The container is practical too, with a flip lid and you squeeze the product out.

Safety Dance will retail for $8.50 and the Salt Scrub will be $7.50. Both will be available for purchase from May 3rd to May 6th along with other polishes and products for the 1980's theme!

Floral on Nude

Hi everyone! Today I have some simple but pretty Spring nail art for you! I have done manicures like this in the past but often on a coloured base.

I was inspired by @coyarose on Instagram to do some over a nude base. She did Forget-me-nots in blue. I chose to do some flowers in my favourite colour loosely inspired by some I have in my garden. Google tells me they're called Grape Hyacinths or Muscari.

I started out my mani with 2 thin coats of Essie BBF Best Boyfriend and then used acrylic paints, a fine detail brush and a small dotting tool to paint the grass then the flowers. I finished with topcoat as always to seal the design. It's been a while since I wore a full mani of florals and I missed it so much! Florals are my favourite!

What do you think of this mani? I love it and it fits in well with my current obsession with nude nails or nail art on a nude base!
